Fort Davis is a residential neighborhood located in southeast Washington, D.C. on the border between the Washington, D.C. District of Columbia and Maryland. It is bounded by Southern Avenue (Washington, D.C.) Southern Avenue, "Pennsylvania Avenue (Washington, D.C .) as well as Alabama Avenue SE/Bowen Road.Fort Davis Park is located in the western part of the neighbourhood. The park was once the location of the site of an American Civil War fort, which was part of the Defenses of Washington which gave Fort Dupont Park its nickname. Fort Dupont Park is located near the northern border of the neighborhood, located along Alabama Avenue SE between Massachusetts Avenue SE and Burns Street SE. Fort Davis Fort Davis neighborhood was primarily not developed up to 1941. Max Sugar, a real estate developer, constructed the first houses in the neighborhood in late 1940. The 250 detached brick houses initially referred to in the early days as "Dupont Village", were bound with 41st Street SE, 42nd Street SE, Fort Dupont Street SE as well as Southern Avenue. Sugar's development targeted high-income defense professionals.
